You can make cutting chases a lot easier with the right tools. With our tips, you will find the perfect angle grinder, hammer drill and impact drill.

Why do I need an angle grinder?

With an angle grinder, you can grind and cut into a variety of materials, depending on the cutting or grinding disc. The most common disc diameters are 230, 125 and 110mm. The latter suffices for cutting smaller chases in your walls. When choosing a cutting or grinding disc, pay special attention to the rotation speed that is indicated on the disc. The indicated speed has to match the angle grinder’s speed in order to be compatible.

Which impact drill do you need?

When you mount a hole saw on an impact drill, you are able to drill larger holes for plug sockets. Do you need an impact drill with unlimited freedom of movement? Then a battery-powered tool is your perfect match. You will need at least an 18V tool to drill larger holes for sockets.

Which hammer drill should I choose?

You can cut chases the old-fashioned way, by hand, or you can do it the easy way: with a hammer drill. Hammer drills aren’t just handy tools for drilling into concrete. You can also use them for all your chiselling tasks, provided that they have a chiselling function and an impact force of at least 3 joules. If you need to move freely with your tool, choose a battery-operated tool. A 40V hammer drill is ideally suited for all chiselling tasks.
